Regulars will tell you that one of the most special dishes at Karavalli is the humble ghee roast chicken. But, because the restaurant is known for its mastery over seafood, the dish often does not get the recognition it deserves.
It’s a simple preparation and follows the original home-style recipe of Thejappa Shetty, who popularised it at his restaurant, Shetty Lunch Home in Kundapur, a coastal town in Mangalore.
Karavalli’s superstar chef, Naren Thimmaiah, improves the dish by adding Byadagi chillies along with dollops of ghee and serves it with neer dosa.
